First Date Wardrobe

The general tip of your big first date is often overlooked by far too many web-based singles.  I regularly reaffirm the relevance of first perception on an initial get together.   If you are preparing to show up at a first meeting appearing like a slob, one can easily only imagine how you will look after you become a little more comfortable and get to know him or her.  He or she is a socially skilled juvenile with few, if any, interpersonal skills.  As a result they don’t take seriously the importance of making a solid initial impression.  

He cannot afford anything beyond a baseball hat, ripped jeans and a t-shirt.  And this can be OK because money is not the be all end all.  So this is a issue of personal preference in your date. But if your date obviously has a good job, a steady income and lives quite well, but still comes to a first date looking like a lazy slob, then head for the hills!

If they don’t hold themselves to a higher measure, then how can they meet your expectations and needs in a relationship with you?  These may be suggestions of an inevitable dating disaster.

Style of dress in the 2000′s has changed a lot from past years.  Corporations are dressing casually.  Successful business people often attire themselves in a more “corporate casual” dress code as the days of business suits has pretty much gone away.  However, successful, confident individuals can still be stylish and give off a high sense of self and present themselves in a positive manner.  Nowadays, bluejeans are satisfactory almost everywhere.  But old, faded (not intentionally) and torn jeans with a NY Yankees T-shirt on a first date says nothing more than lack of want for a positive impression, and this is a massive red flag.

As for me, I prefer a gal who cares for herself physically and is well made up.  I don’t seek out drop dead gorgeous, but no brains models with enough make-up to coat the side of a tall building.  But, I prefer make-up on a girl.  I enjoy a woman who cares about this as well and often looks presentable for an initial meeting.  When I meet a woman who cares enough about a first date to show up without the slightest bit of makeup, and has so apparently taken little time to get ready for the first date, I am instantly turned off.  Note that this is just my preference.  Some girls are more of the tomboyish and look presentable wearing less make-up, but they do care about their appearance and it is evident.  This is okay if that is what you prefer.  If a woman prefers little or no cosmetics, but plainly takes pride in her all around appearance, then terrific.  The caveat here for me is the girl who is well made up in her dating profile snapshots and then suddenly comes to a 1st date looking like she just returned the health and fitness center.  So when I state dress to impress, this takes into consideration the whole entire package:  Outfits, makeup (for the ladies) and attractive hairstyle.

My suggeation: If you have a choice, opt to dress attractively.  Always remember this.  It should become your mantra, this is especially true for a first date.
